5 weekly sessions on Tuesdays 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm, starting 30 April 

This course will use novels, poetry and film to examine the mythology of the Frontier and the West and its place in American culture.  The novels are Butcher's Crossing by John Williams, Days Without End by Sebastian Barry, The Round House by Louise Erdrich and the poem is My Heroes Have Never Been Cowboys by Sherman Alexie.  We shall also discuss John Ford's film, The Searchers.
