This course will give students an overview of Poland's history from the interwar years of the twentieth century and up to and including the collapse of communism. Major factors influencing Poland's political position in Central Europe and the relationship with its powerful neighbours (Soviet Union and Germany) will be discussed. Students will receive first-hand information on life in Poland during communist times based on the tutor's personal experience.
