[OLE3147]

Tom Thorpe, BA, MA, PhD, AITG MCIPR

5 weekly sessions on Wednesdays 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm, starting 1 May

Five evening guided walks will explore various areas of Belfast, unveiling its intricate and captivating history through its architectural landscape and public art. These tours encompass the following themes: (1) The people and places that have significantly influenced the history of the Linen and Cathedral Quarters; (2) Belfast's rich maritime heritage; (3) The evolution of Belfast's medical history; (4) The architectural wonders, gardens, and public art within the Queen's Quarter; (5) The events of the 1941 Belfast Blitz. These walks serve as a general introduction to Belfast's past, as reflected in its architecture, historical landmarks, and urban surroundings. They are designed for individuals with a broad interest in history, rather than experts, who appreciate exploring the city and uncovering new aspects of their local environment. These excursions are led by a local historian with a PhD qualification, a resident of Belfast, and a certified Belfast Green Badge Tour Guide. Details will be sent as to where to meet for each of the five walks
