Two French Masters - Faure and Ravel
[OLE3342]

Alec Macdonald, BMus

Autumn 2024

10 weekly sessions on Fridays 11.00 am to 12 noon, starting 27 September

2024 marks the centenary of the death of Gabriel Faure, on November 4th, 1924, while in 2025 we will be commemorating 150 years since the birth of Maurice Ravel, on March 7th, 1875. In this course we will be looking at these two key figures in the history of French music. Both of them created music that was unmistakably French in style and flavour, yet each composer speaks with an instantly recognisable personal voice. We will be listening to recordings of their music, both familiar works as well as those that are perhaps less well-known.

Fee £46.00 (concession rate £33.00)

5 CATS Points (Level 1)

This class will take place on QUB campus

Concession: The concession rate is available for those who are in receipt of State Benefits (including pension), or are full-time students, part or full-time Queen’s students or are members of University staff holding a valid staff card:
