10 weekly sessions on Fridays 11.00 am to 12.00 noon, starting 19 January

This term we will be exploring musical events from four centuries, from 1624, 1724, 1824 and 1924. We will be commemorating the births and deaths of composers, including Smetana, Bruckner, Faure, Puccini, and Irishmen, Stanford and Victor Herbert. We will be remembering the debuts of Segovia, Koussevitsky, and the Czech Nonet, and celebrating a wide range of first performances, including Handel's ‘Giulio Cesare’, Gershwin's ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, Bach's ‘St John Passion’, Janacek's ‘Cunning Little Vixen’, and two famous symphonies, Beethoven 9 and Sibelius 7. A full list of the music to be discussed will be available at the first class.

Fee £43.00 (concession rate £28.00)
