10 weekly sessions on Tuesdays 10.45 am to 12.15 pm, starting 16 January in Room 4, Holywood Library, High Street, Holywood

Our literary journey will explore the work of female historical fiction writers. We will delve into crime, romance, short stories and longer fiction. There will be kings and queens, criminals and dandies from medieval times to World War II! Hold onto your bonnets and tricorn hatts. The texts we are hoping to cover will include: Emma Donoghue, Astray (short stories), Helen Dunmore, 'Rose', 1944 (short story, in Girl, Balancing) Annie Garthwaite: Cecily, Susanna Gregory: 'A Plague on Both Your Houses' (the first Matthew Bartholomew Chronicle), Stacey Halls: The Foundling, Georgette Heyer: Cotillion, Gill Hornby: Godmersham Park.

Louise McIvor has been teaching in Queen’s University’s Open Learning for the past 10 years. Louise has been a huge fan of crime fiction ever since reading Carolyn Keene’s Nancy Drew mysteries which she borrowed from the Lisburn Road library.
